First thing I thought do a compression test to measure the wear, this bike has only 23000 miles on the clock but l need to check before building the rest of the bike around it.

1 - Well 25psi is not good.

2 - Line up the timing marks on the cam and stator.

3 - Slacken the points cover.

4 - Remove the points and backing plate.

 5 - Auto advance off next.

6 - pistons.

7 - Remove the two cam shatf bolts.

8 - Remove the rocker shaft cover.On .

9 - .

10 - .

11 - .

12 - Then out with the cam shaft.

13 - Cam chain drive sprocket comes out.

14 - Piston is in good shape.

15 - Valves in a mess.

16 - Out with gudgeon pin.

17 - The HONDA piston is in good shape so after a bit of a clean that will be reused..

18 - The piston rig gap showed very little wear so they will go back in.

19 - Pull out the two rocker arm shafts.

20 - Then the rocker arms.

21 - Out with the collets.

22 - The Exhaust valve very heavy carbon, not sure if this was mixture or a timing issue.

23 - The valves seats were quite pitted especially the exhaust.

24 - So I have ordered two new valves.

25 - And I have found a local engine specialist Cotswold Engine Re conditioners.   They are re cutting the seats and all for £8.

27 - Nice coat of heat resistant paint on the barrel.

28 - I tried to lapp out the pitting but after several course then fine paste applications the pitting is still there.
